Parents and Teachers Together

This project will create committees of parents and teachers to create, virtual passive, virtual active and face to face interaction to connect parents and teachers through student activities.

Dream Big:

This web site represents just one of three initiatives that we are pursuing this year to increase the communication and involvement between parents and teachers at PA Leadership, and launch three initiatives where communication and involvement can flourish and grow.

The Problem: (From education world)

Research shows that children are more likely to succeed academically and are less likely to engage in violent behavior if their families are involved in their education. Many parents say, however, that they feel unwelcome or uncomfortable in their children’s schools. Teachers often feel under attack by parents who are highly involved. Learn how to bridge the gap.

Activities to Bridge the Gap:

There are three main pages to this web site.

  • Virtual passive initiatives
  • Virtual active initiatives
  • Face to face interaction opportunities

Additional Resources:

  • Project Appleseed
This non-profit, national campaign advocates improvement in public schools by increasing parental involvement in U.S. schools.
  • The National PTA
This site provides a number of documents offering ideas for teachers and schools who want to encourage and promote parental involvement in education.
  • National Network of Partnership Schools
