Friday, September 30

My schedule has changed for today; I will be out of the office from 12:30 on, so Calculus chat is canceled.  Please come to office hours or arrange a meeting in the morning if you have questions.

9/29/11

Don’t forget, your local assessment is due tonight.  Please be sure to use Internet Explorer to access the PLATO site.

For those students who celebrate Rosh Hashanah, please accept my best wished for a healthy and happy new year.

MP1 – Term 2 Begins Today

Yesterday marked the end of the first term of marking period 1.  If you did not turn in all the assignments that were due in that time frame, you may still turn them in, but they are subject to a late penalty, as described in the syllabus.

Grades will be posted by Monday morning; if your grade is not as high as you might have expected , don’t give up, since you can definitely recover and end the marking period with a much better grade by turning in your work on time, and coming for help as needed.

Tuesday Morning

Today is the last day of term 1 in Marking Period 1.  The deadline for submission of assignments is 11:55 PM tonight.

Several people have indicated that they do not know how to properly submit files.  I have a recording of how to insert your images into a word processor document and save the result so you can upload the document as one file. Here it is

Here is a recording on how to use MathType.  You can refer to this at any time.

Great work is being turned in!

I am essentially caught up on all grading, so the grades you see right now are pretty accurate.

Local Assessment #1 is due this Thursday, September 29.  Directions are in the lesson; don’t forget to send the ID number verification lesson in for credit.  This test will lock at midnight on the 29th, so you need to be working on it now.

The end of term 1 is tomorrow at 11:55 PM; your first term grade is based on all assignments due up to and including tomorrow. 9/27.  If you have completed work beyond this date, the points will count toward your second term grade.

Have a great day!

I am essentially caught up on all grading, so the grades you see right now are pretty accurate.

Reminder:  The precourse assessments  for Intermediate Algebra is hand graded, so you will see a grade of 0 until I grade your paper.  You get the full credit for turning in the assignment, since this is a way of seeing what you know and what you don’t remember.

The first term of marking period 1 ends this coming Tuesday, 9/27, at 11:55 PM.

Please be sure to turn all work in that is due up to and including what is due on 9/27.

Have a great weekend, and if you’re headed for the Pirates game, have a great time!

The Grand Slam outing is next Wednesday, 9/28 from 6 – 8 PM.  What a great way to celebrate the end of the first term!  Hope to see you there!

Thursday, 9/22

All teachers will be attending professional development sessions today from 9 – 12.  I will be away from my desk and unable to answer moodle messages or the phone.

Office hours and chats will be held on schedule, but the office hours might start 5 – 10 minutes late, depending on whether or not the meetings run over time.

Local Assessment Reminder

The first local assessment of the school year is due next Thursday, 9/29.  You can find the assessment at the PLATO website.

Please verify that you can log in to PLATO well before the test locks at midnight on 9/29.

The account name is plcs1,  your log in name is your 10 digit PA Secure ID, and the password is palcs09.   The address is ple.platoweb.com

The test is by grade level, regardless of which math class you are enrolled in, so different people will have different tests, depending on your grade.

Good luck!
